Morpeth Town's new Academy intake being put through their paces.

Players were put through their paces on the training pitch, but they were also involved in two seminars.

First up, Academy Director Nicky Gray gave an insight into match analysis.

The players watched footage from last month's friendly games which had been recorded on the Veo Camera.

This enabled the lads to see the benefits of match analysis to improve their game and also how the technology that will be used for all of their games works and benefits them. The second seminar came from the club’s Head of Sports Science & Medicine, Steven Shaw, with the topic being the Playertek + GPS pods that the first team and academy players will use every day.

Again it was an insight into the technology and highlighted to the boys how they can access their performance data from last month’s friendly game, how the data is used by staff and how they can use it themselves to monitor and improve their performance.

After a break and a nutritious lunch served by the club chef, the lads ventured onto the Common pitches with the club's state of the art 3G pitch currently being under construction.

They were kitted out, with each player wearing their gps units.

The sessions, which were game related, allowed the players to get more used to their new team mates and gave coaches an opportunity to see the lads in a competitive environment.

Organisers said it was a great day and was a fantastic way see them all together as they look forward to a busy pre-season schedule.Morpeth do have limited availability (currently five spaces) available for school leavers, those aged 16 and 17 on August 31, who would like to train ️ full time while also learning either a trade (construction and engineering pathways), complete A-Levels or the UCAS points equivalent Sports Diploma.

They are also still recruiting for their unique U19 programme - if you are aged 18 on August 31. For more information or to apply contact Nicky at [email protected]
