The Newcastle United defender has recovered from the knee problem which has sidelined him for the past two months.

And Dummett – who could be involved in this afternoon’s Under-21 Premier League game at Derby County – is firmly in Carver’s thoughts for Saturday’s game at the King Power Stadium.

Head coach Carver is hopeful Dummett can shore up relegation-threatened United’s defence in the final four games of the season.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko is also available to face Leicester after serving a two-game ban for his dismissal at Liverpool earlier this month.

“We know Moussa Sissoko will be back and Paul Dummett will be back,” said Carver. “We’re getting players back from the injury room.

“They’re coming back at the most important time with four games to do.”

There were fears that Dummett’s season was over when he suffered a knee injury in United’s 1-1 draw away to Crystal Palace in mid-February.

But the 23-year-old – who can play at left-back and centre-half – returned to training earlier this month.

“Paul’s had a couple of good weeks training,” said Carver, whose side are just five points above the Premier League’s bottom three.

“He trained with us (last Friday) fully.

“He’ll have a full week’s training under his belt. Hopefully, he should be OK.”

Meanwhile, winger Rolando Aarons, sidelined for the past five months with hamstring and thigh injuries, is closing in on a comeback.

Carver said: “You might get him in the last couple of games.”
