The Panthers started very positively, but they allowed the Magpies to win possession in the centre circle and send their centre-forward away.

He powered into the penalty area and added a clinical finish to put the hosts 1-0 up.

However, the Panthers took the game straight back to their opponents. Latching on to a free-kick, Robert Eadington struck a powerful shot against the underside of the crossbar.

In the ensuing scramble, the ball fell to James Brady, who pounced to equalise.

Oscar Jones worked tirelessly looking for an opening and he and Ben Forster combined nicely to fire a ball through to Robert Eadington. Robert collected it, burst into the box and smashed it past the keeper’s despairing dive (1-2).

Working hard down the left, Drew Coates won the ball with a strong tackle before playing Robert in. He pulled the trigger, but he was denied by the keeper who was able to push the ball out to the edge of the area.

However, Ross Charlton raced onto the clearance and fired a shot into the corner of the net.

In the second half, North Shields started to take more possession and looked more threatening. However, Luke Guy continued with his outstanding form from last week, making repeated saves to protect the Panthers’ lead.

And with good defensive work from the whole team, including the substitutes and the back four, the final score was 3-1 to the Morpeth youngsters.
