A PARALYMPIC sports taster event next month is available to youngsters in Northumberland.
Archery, athletics, boccia, fencing, football, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair basketball are among the activities available at the Northumberland Sportsability Festival.
It is free for any young person with a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment aged between nine and 18 years who is a resident in the county. The event is organised by Northumberland Sport and supported by the English Federation for Disability Sport, Northumberland Aiming High and National Governing Bodies for Sport.
It is being held at Sport Central in Newcastle on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2.
Doug Lowery, Executive Director for Northumberland Sport, said: “While we hope to identify new talent and with the support of sports governing bodies, help any potential stars of the future onto a development pathway, we also want to encourage more young people to enjoy sport and to participate more regularly.”
