Ponteland up to fourth in Alliance

Ponteland United moved up to fourth place in the Northern Alliance Premier Division when they beat Winlaton Vulcans 2-1 away from home on Saturday.

They will look to consolidate their position and improve on their 29 points tally this weekend when they take on ninth placed Wallington at home.

In Division 1, Red Row won 3-2 away to Blyth Spartans Reserves and sit third in the table. On Saturday they face a difficult home game against second placed Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors.

In Division 2, Ellington took a point from a 3-3 away draw at Cramlington Town, which keeps them ninth in the table on 24 points.

This weekend they will be hoping to build on that result when they take on local rivals Stobswood Welfare at home.

Stobswood also took a point from another 3-3 draw, this time at home to Newcastle Blue Star Reserves, but they remain bottom of the table with only seven points from their 16 games.

In the Development Division, leaders Ponteland United Reserves continued to press ahead at the top with a 4-0 away win over Lowick, who have not won a game since August.

The Reserves now top the table on 56 points, 18 ahead of nearest rivals West Jesmond. This weekend they are away to Morpeth FC, who curently sit third in the table on 36 points, and who on Saturday had a 2-1 home win over Swalwell.

Ashington Reserves won 3-2 away to Newcastle East End Reserves and they are seventh in the tavle on 27 points – this weekend they travel to take on Heaton Stannington.
