Ponteland Reserves make unbeaten start in Alliance

Ponteland Reserves remain unbeaten in the Northern Alliance Development League after two wins in the past week.

On Wednesday they beat Newcastle East End Reserves 3-2 and on Saturday they won 4-1 at home to Wooler.

The victories make it five wins and two draws from their opening seven games, putting them top of the table on 17 points.

Last night (Wednesday) they hoped to keep the unbeaten run going at home to Morpeth FC, who are also unbeaten, whilst on Saturday they are home to Wideopen A.

Morpeth FC, with three wins and two draws from their first five games, sit fifth on 11 points.

Last Wednesday they won 5-1 away to Wideopen, and on Saturday they drew 2-2 at home to North Sunderland, who are also unbeaten in second place in the league.

Last night (Wednesday) Morpeth were due to take on Ponteland Reserves away in a local derby. and on Saturday they face Alnwick Town Development (away) in the NFA Minor Cup.

Morpeth Town Reserves, who are down in 14th place, lost 3-1 away to Ashington Reserves in a local derby last Wednesday, and on Saturday drew 1-1 at home with Whitley Bay Sporting Club A.

This Saturday, Morpeth Town Reserves are home to Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs.

In the Premier Division, Ponteland United are tenth on seven points with two wins and a draw from their opening six games.

Last Wednesday they drew 1-1 away to North Shields Athletic and on Saturday they went down 2-1 away to Wallington.

On Saturday they are away to Alnwick Town, who are currently searching for their first points of the season and who on Saturday narrowly lost 1-0 away to Yorkshire Amateurs in the FA Vase.

In Division One, red Row Welfare have four wins and a draw from their first six games and sit fifth on 13 points.

They enjoyed a good week, winning two games and scoring 14 goals in the process. On Wednesday they thumped Gosforth Bohemiens 8-1 away from home, and on Saturday they had more success on the road with a 6-2 win at Rothbury, who are eighth on eight points.
