Ponteland seventh in Alliance table

In the Northern Alliance Premier Division, Ponteland United won 3-1 at home against Shankhouse and are now seventh in the table on 22 points.

In midweek they face Gateshead Redheugh at home and on Saturday they are away to Killingworth on the League Cup.

In the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, Alnwick Town lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle Chemfica.

In Division 1, Red Row drew 2-2 away to Whitley Bay Sporting Club and sit third in the table on 23 points. On Saturday they are home to Winlaton Vulcans in the Gardner Cup.

In Division 2, Ellington lost 5-1 at home to Blyth Town and are tenth in the table on 17 points. This weekend they face Spittal at home in the league.

Stobswood Welfare also lost by four goals, 4-0 away to Newcastle University A and they remain bottom of the table on six points. On Saturday they take on Jesmond away.

In the Development Division, leaders Ponteland United Reserves won 6-0 against basement side Red House Farm – on Saturday they areaway to Newcastle East End Reserves.

Third placed Morpeth FC drew 1-1 away to Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs and this weekend travel to face Gosforth Bohemiens Reserves.

Meanwhile, Morpeth Town Reserves’ away match at North Sunderland was abandoned after 68 minutes due a bad injury sustained by one of the the Morpeth players. North Sunderland were leading 4-2 at the time. On Saturday Morpeth Reserves are home to Red House Farm.

Ashington Reserves are home to Lowick this weekend.
