Up the road, Alnwick Town slumped to a 3-0 home defeat in the league yesterday when they hosted leaders Darlington RA.

In the clash between the STL Northern League Division Two’s first and third-placed teams, Alnwick came off worse but stay third as only three league matches were played this weekend with the majority of sides in cup action.

However, this is only Town’s second defeat in nine games in their first season back in the Northern League and they still have an unbeaten away record.

Alnwick face Crook Town at home on Tuesday night in a 7.30pm kick-off.
