Shambles? Not us!

Morpeth Sunday League round-up

Division One

The Wharton Arms narrowly lost 1-0 to Morpeth Shambles but were unfortunate on the day as they created the better chances.

They also had a goal ruled out by a narrow offside decision after a great cross from the right-hand side was headed in off the underside of the bar by Josie Bolam.

The Wharton were made to pay when a pin-point delivery was headed home by Shambles striker Jordan Nellis and this proved to be the game’s deciding moment.

Ashington RAOB won 6-1 against Amble Blue Bell thanks to four goals from Damon Mullen and single strikes by Scott Dunn, Kieran Robson and Craig Robinson.

Stobswood recorded a 5-0 victory at home to Amble Tavern thanks to goalscorers Stu Oman, Robert Baker, Jake Baker, Billy Heckles and John Elk.

HMP Northumberland defeated Bedlington FC 7-1 courtesy of a Steven Langston hat-trick, a Glen Walker brace and goals by Andrew Naylor and Jason Singh.

George Cave Cup, Preliminary Round

The Wansbeck edged out Alnmouth Argyle 3-1 after extra-time with goals from Steven Harrogate, Mark Muldoon and Gary Ribeiro.
