Sign a team up for Easter Shield

THE Easter Shield five-a-side tournament is making a welcome return to Morpeth.

Put together by the Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing Team, it will take place on Friday, April 12, between 11.45am and 4pm at the Riverside Leisure Centre.

The competition is free to join and anyone between the ages of 11 and 13 can enter.

The main organiser, PCSO Paul Moorhead, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for police and young people to come together and enjoy a day out.

“It helps to build relations with the younger generations and gives them an understanding of who their local officers are.

“The day is always well received by parents and kids. I hope we can encourage people to come along and take part in the day, whether it is to play or spectate.”

This is the seventh year the Easter Shield has run in Morpeth. Anyone interested in submitting a team can contact the Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing Team by email –

Entries need to be submitted by the end of Monday.
