Stobswood suffer at the hands of Arms

Division One

BEDLINGTON Barrington Arms recorded a fine 0-3 away win against Stobswood on Sunday.

Rob Eastway opened the scoring just before half-time with a brilliant curling effort from the edge of the box.

The Monkey doubled their advantage midway through the second half as David Scott latched onto an incisive through-ball before coolly rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home.

The win was wrapped up after Chris Dobey finished when one-on-one with the goalkeeper after an excellent run and pass from Calum Donohoe.

Elsewhere in the division, Amble Tavern logged an impressive 8-0 victory over Ashington RAOB, with their danger man Sean Taylor scoring four goals for the second successive week.

Also on the mark for Amble were Liam Brooks (two), Matty Graham and Chris Graham.

Rounding off the Division One action, Wharton Arms defeated newly-promoted Riverside Lodge 6-0 thanks to an Andy Carr hat-trick and solitary strikes from Joe Moscrop, Simon Cunningham and Adam Beacroft.

Division Two

Four teams currently sit on six points following flawless starts.

Topping the table on goal difference are Amble Blue Bell as they ran out 6-0 victors over Amble Dock Hotel.

Peter Murray got a hat-trick, James Oliver and Gary Taylor also scored and the scoring was completed with an own-goal.

New team Ashington Conchie sit second in the table as they thrashed Alnmouth Argyle 8-0.

Scoring for the Conchie were Michael Freathy (three), David Heppell (three), Michael Redpath and Paul Key.

HMP Northumberland have also made a strong start and they got their second straight victory by beating The Elephant 5-1 thanks to goals from Joe Powell, Billy Cadens, Kieran Petre and a brace from Jason Singh.

The Elephant’s consolation was scored by K Judd.

East Chevington sit fourth as they overcame Village Inn Longframlington 4-2, with Darren Smith notching all four of the goals.

The Village Inn replies were scored by Gav Dick and Andy Armin.

Finally in Division Two, North End Trap hammered Morpeth Shambles 11-0, with the goalscorers Jack Small (three), Ian Elliot (two), Ian Turnbull (two), Josh Baston (two), Luke Baston and Marc Nixon.
