The Black Cats had reportedly been keen on a double transfer move for the midfielder and Liverpool forward Fabio Borini.

But Januzaj said he was in no rush to leave Old Trafford after scoring the only goal in United’s second successive 1-0 Premier League victory, at Aston Villa.

The midfielder netted for the first time since April 2014 to settle an uneventful game which the visitors comfortably controlled.

Januzaj, who has found his first-team opportunities limited under boss Louis Van Gaal, was pleased to make such an impact on his return to action for United.

“Obviously (I’m) feeling good after scoring the goal, obviously I’ve not had a game for a long time so my match fitness is not so good but I’m happy to score for the team an score the winner,” he said.

“I hope to have more games and hopefully score more goals.”

The Belgium international has been linked with a loan move but insists his immediate future lies with the 20-time league champions.

He added: “It’s only rumours, I am happy here and of course I am going to fight for my place.”

United had already begun to take control but the 20-year-old ensured their patience paid off with a cool winner in the 29th minute.

Juan Mata’s defence-splitting pass was perfect for the run of the Belgian who outfoxed the sliding Micah Richards with a smart turn.

He still had plenty to do from the corner of the six-yard box but his shot took a slight touch off Ciaran Clark before going in off the far post.
