Three wins in a row for Morpeth
MORPETH TOWN 4WARRINGTON 0Morpeth made it three league wins in a row on Saturday when they beat a Warrington side who finished the game with only nine players.
All the goals came in the first half with Liam Noble, Carl Finnigan, Liam Henderson and Jeff Henderson finding the net in a convincing first half display by the Highwaymen.
The visitors had their first sending off only nine minutes into the game when Bohan Dixon was sent off, and in the 90th minute they received their second red card with Mitch Duggan receiving his marching orders.
Morpeth made a bright start and Noble gave the Northumbrians a third minute lead with a shot from the edge of the box.
On seven minutes Dixon stung the palms of Dan Lowson in the home goal, but just two minutes later he was dismissed, shown a straight red card by the referee.
Finnigan doubled Morpeth’s advantage after 23 minutes when he rolled the ball into the bottom corner, scoring his first goal for the club.
Morpeth were in complete control and they added a third on 30 minutes when Liam Henderson netted with a superb strike from distance.
On 37 minutes it was 4-0 and Town were threatening to run riot when Jeff Henderson also scored with a wonderful strike off the outside of the boot and into the far corner.
Just five minutes into the second half Morpeth went close tom adding a fifth when Finnigan nodded down and Henderson’s shot hit a post before landing in the keeper’s arms.
On the hour mark, Finnigan then scooped the ball over the bar after a great run by Walton.
Warrington then shut up shop in an attempt to keep the scoreline respectable, but Lowsan was never really threatened.
In the 86th minute substitute Jack Foalle burst forward but his shot across goal was blocked, and just second later Liam Henderson volleyed wide.
Warrington’s misery was completed when just before the end Duggan was showed a straight red for a foul on Stephen Forster.
