Wooler went down to a 3-2 home defeat against top of the table Ponteland United Reserves.

The visitors took an early lead, but the Glendale side hit back to equalise through Brandon Crombie, who flicked on from a free kick.

In the second half Wooler continued to work hard and they took the lead when Gregor Sharp finished well at the front post.

But Ponteland are not the league leaders for nothing and they levelled at 2-2 from a corner before grabbing the winner 15 minutes from the end.

On Saturday Wooler are away to Whitburn & Cleadon in the Gardner Cup.

Lowick fought out a rare 0-0 draw against lowly Morpeth Town Reserves.

Lowick battled hard throughout the 90 minutes and at the final whistle were disappointed not to take all three points.

After a run of ten successive defeats, during which time they had conceded 42 goals, this was a welcome point for the ‘Tractor Boys,’ who will be looking to build on this when they take on 11th places Swalwell in their final game before the festive break.
