A GROUP of leisure centres in Northumberland are getting in the swing of things to celebrate the first British man to win the Wimbledon title in 77 years.
The Ponteland and Morpeth (Riverside) facilities are offering local Andys and Murrays a free three-day pass and a free tennis or personal trainer session after Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday.
Whether Andy, Andrew or Murray is your first name or surname, the offer applies to you – the deadline to take advantage of it is this Sunday.
Kevin Yates, head of fitness, communications and marketing at centre operators Harpers Fitness, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming local Andys and Murrays to their local leisure centre and hope they enjoy the fitness facilities we have to offer.
“Andy Murray is the most successful British man in terms of Grand Slam match wins and this Wimbledon win is historic. He has certainly made people proud to be British, and we want to commemorate this achievement.
“Our fully-trained and friendly staff are on hand to offer any help and advice to the guests to ensure they make the most of their visits and have an enjoyable experience.”
Those who qualify for the offer are asked to go to reception at their chosen leisure centre and show proof of identity.
