Gabby’s plea to schools to join week of sport

TELEVISION presenter and Commonwealth Games gymnast Gabby Logan has called on Northumberland schools to sign up for the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week.

Last year, more than 14,000 schools across Britain signed up to the week-long national initiative, with five million children taking part in a host of activities.

Morpeth First School has vowed to join in this year and Logan has urged other schools to follow suit, with great prizes on offer.

The mum-of-two, who is the ambassador for the event – which runs from June 27 to July 1 – said: “It’s a great scheme. It’s not necessarily about children becoming Olympic athletes but just getting healthier and enjoying themselves.”
