A day for the bowlers

Clara Vale (70) v Blagdon Park (54) Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division

IN a low-scoring game, second-placed Park slipped to a 16-run defeat at lowly Clara Vale.

Batting first, the home side only managed to post a total of 70, with the lion’s share scored by Usman Saeed (30).

Nobody else managed to make it to double figures and there were three ducks on the scoresheet.

Matthew Senior was pick of the Park bowlers with 4-14, while Paul Johnson took 3-18 and Alistair Clark 2-22.

In reply, the visitors fared even worse with the willow as opener David Gibson top-scored with 12 before a major batting collapse to 54 all out.

There were also three ducks for Blagdon, whose defeat saw them lose ground on league leaders Bedlington.

Muhammad Ashraf took 4-20 and Riaz Mohammed 5-28.
