An away-day defeat

Cramlington (170-3) v Stobswood Welfare (169-9) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

DESPITE some impressive individual performances, Stobswood fell to a seven-wicket defeat at Cramlington.

The away side batted first and a few of the top order batsmen were out cheaply, whilst Ian Watson (16), Stefan Townsley (13) and Karl Watson (10) played themselves in but could not go on to make a big score.

However, Antony Wingfield played brilliantly for his 64 not out, which included nine fours and one six.

And with good support from Michael Beverley (37), Stobswood had a reasonable chance of victory after finishing on 169 for nine.

But despite Daniel Cook getting two wickets in a decent 10-over spell and one for Beverley, Cramlington batted very well and reached 170 for the loss of just three wickets.
