Bouncing back for win

Ulgham (222-5) v Old Record Players (92)

Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

ULGHAM romped to a 130-run home victory at the weekend to bounce back from the previous week’s heavy defeat.

Winning the toss and batting first, the home side lost Colin Tait for five, but fellow opener Mark Plummer hit 93 including 17 fours.

He was backed up by solid knocks from Darren Campbell (33), Roy Haygarth (26) and Chase Evans (27 not out).

Pick of the Players’ bowlers was Tony Glover, who took 3-43, including that of Plummer when seven short of his century.

In reply, the away side never really got going with several batsmen making it into the teens, but no further.

The Ulgham bowlers were on song with Campbell taking 5-20 off 13 overs, backed up by David Moore (3-46) and Evans (2-18).
