PREPARATIONS are well under way for the region’s new Advanced Event at Burgham, which is hoped will attract top UK and international riders training for the London Olympics.
Building work on international course designer Ronald Alexander’s new intermediate and advanced courses by Peter Wilson and his team is on schedule to be completed at the end of this month.
The 3.5-mile trails include water jumps and crossings.
Mr Alexander, who has designed courses in Russia, Australia, South Africa as well as across the UK, has designed the new ones at Burgham to international standards, so they should prove an ideal test for riders preparing for Badminton and the Olympics in a weekend of top class eventing in Northumberland on March 24 and 25.
Joint organiser, David Nicholson, said: “The new cross-country courses look incredible. Ronald Alexander has produced a course ready for international competitions and we are expecting to see some of the UK’s top riders in March as they prepare for the 2012 Olympics.”
Work started months ago for both the Burgham events – the second of which takes place from July 13 to 15.
The event website at www.burghamhorsetrials.co.uk has just been updated with information. Entries open on February 18.
Trade stand applications are now open for both events and are available by emailing email@example.com or via the website.
