THE Morpeth Riding for the Disabled Group is hosting the Northern Regional Championships at the Pegasus Centre in Tranwell for the second year running.
Competitions at Wednesday’s event include the Countryside Challenge – a specially designed course on the lines of the handy pony type competition.
There are also novice dressage contests and qualifiers for the national dressage championships to be held in Gloucester in July.
The Morpeth group has approximately 40 riders taking part this year and dressage riders have been benefiting from regular lessons with Cathy Burrell, the British Dressage Northern Region representative for para-dressage.
Other groups are coming from across the North East.
The Pegasus Centre is a specialist facility for Riding for the Disabled. It was funded by the former Castle Morpeth Council, Sport England, the National Lottery and a massive effort from the Morpeth group.
