A Ponteland teenager’s impressive equestrian achievements were recognised at the Sport Tynedale 2014 Awards.
Charlotte Ash, a Year 11 student at Ponteland High School, was crowned Young Sportswoman of the Year for a 12-month period that included numerous competition wins.
She managed to qualify for the British Masters and Horse of the Year Show and represented Great Britain across Europe in pony contests, winning team gold into the bargain. She has done all this while maintaining a strong commitment to her studies.
Her headteacher, Kieran McGrane, said: “Charlotte has had a fantastic run of success, but has remained very modest throughout, and we hope that she will continue to excel in all things in the years ahead.”
