THERE is a pool of outstanding equestrian talent in the North East – none of which are climbing the ranks quite so rapidly as Ponteland High School’s Charlotte Ash, writes Jessica Rea.
She recently made a bid to qualify for her fourth Horse of the Year Show to date on family-owned pony Aughnashammer.
Her flawless performance in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter second round in Cheshire earned her an impressive treble clear, first place and an all-important ticket to the prestigious event at the LG Arena in Birmingham this October.
Despite her great achievements so far, when asked about her hopes for the next ten years, without hesitation she said she wants to compete in the Olympics.
The 14-year-old added: “In the next few years, I want to do the Europeans on Aughnashammer. He’s going in the right way.”
