Chopwell (157-3) v Morpeth (156 all out) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League, Division B1
TOO many batting failures proved costly as Morpeth slipped to a disappointing defeat.
The visitors lost Foster for four and Anderson for just one early on.
But Jonny Craigs and Ben Maxted got the innings going and both men played some terrific boundary shots.
They both looked set for half-centuries until Craigs was trapped lbw on 39 and Maxted was caught for 38.
More quick wickets followed and although Jimmy Craigs was in good nick, he was left stranded on 25 not out as Morpeth were all out for 156. Gary Christie did well for a tail-ender to make 11 runs.
Christie gave the away side hope by dismissing Anderson for a duck and Meadows for 17 – both lbw.
But Mansoor was in excellent form and he regularly found the boundary to reach a quick half-century.
Try as they might, Morpeth could not remove him and they only took one more wicket when Jonny Craigs trapped Hornby lbw for 30.
Chopwell won by seven wickets, with Mansoor finishing unbeaten on 83.
