Club’s Sunday blues

Tynemouth III (197-2) v Ulgham (193-7) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

ULGHAM lost ground in their battle to avoid relegation after being defeated at Tynemouth thirds on Sunday.

The visitors batted first and recovered well after losing Gary Hall for 11.

Darrell Campbell made a deserved half-century and was eventually out for 65. Decent knocks were also made by Wahab Barakat (35) and Colin Tait (27) and there were 29 extras as Ulgham finished their 45 overs on 193 for seven.

The hosts reached 26 when Newman was trapped LBW by Campbell, but they had three batsmen in good nick who were able to better the required run rate.

They achieved their victory target with eight wickets and 26 balls to spare.

Koen was 87 not out and Ward finished unbeaten on 51. Byerley was bowled by David Charlton for 34.
