It was a tough afternoon for Ponteland Cricket Club’s first team at home to Swalwell on Saturday.
The visitors batted first and an opening partnership of 95 put them in a strong position.
A few wickets halted their progress, but quick scoring towards the end of their innings helped Swalwell reach a total of 242 for six from their 50 overs. Duncan McGregor and Tom Seymour each took two wickets.
Ponteland were dismissed for just 111. James Ritzema (40), Ed Common (27) and Iftikhar Fazal (13 not out) were the only players to reach double figures.
The second team travelled south to play their Swalwell counterparts. The hosts were all out for 214 – Tom Common (3-59) and Andy Denyer (2-39) were the pick of Pont’s main bowlers.
But the away side lost all their wickets for 129 in reply. The top scorers were Andy Morgan (37), Luke Hudson (27) and Scott Gibson (16).
