Bomarsund (188-4) v Ulgham (185) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One
ULGHAM’S total proved to be not enough as they came up against an in-form Bomarsund side.
The away side batted first and lost a few early wickets until a partnership between Roy Haygarth (44) and Alan Hynd (17) steadied the ship.
A number of batsmen could not reach double figures, but an excellent knock of 61 by Gary Hall gave his side hope as he helped them to 185 all out.
This was extinguished by a high-quality innings of 74 not out by Thornton.
Haig Junior (36) was caught by Darrell Campbell off the bowling of David Covell and Thain (45) was bowled by David Stokoe.
However, Bomarsund never looked in danger of falling short.
Before they reached their target, Hall took a wicket and Stokoe claimed his second scalp.
