HORSE racing fans can enjoy a packed programme of high-quality action at a course near Morpeth on Saturday – and they won’t miss out on the Grand National.
With 127 entries for a seven-race card at the Tranwell Point to Point, probably the most competitive will be The Members’ where Amie and Stephie Waugh will both be trying to beat their uncle, Adam Waugh, who will also be trying to fend off improving horse Reef Dancer.
But never write off Val Jackson on her own Cast Iron Casey, a winning partnership at Kelso recently.
Keen contests are also expected in the others, including The Ladies’ and the Men’s Open.
After two pony races from 12.15pm, the first main race is at 1pm and spectators can watch the Grand National at 4.15pm on television screens.
