More sponsors have come on board for a big equestrian event in Northumberland.

Organisers have revealed some of the corporate sponsorship line-up for Belsay Horse Trials 2014, which will take place on May 31 and June 1 at Belsay Castle.

Following the announcement in February that Barbour will be headline sponsor of the event, some of the North East’s leading companies are also giving their backing to the horse trials, which last year attracted around 4,500 people.

Law firm Bond Dickinson, which headlined Belsay in 2013, is returning this year to sponsor the show jumping arena. Meanwhile, wealth management specialists UBS, accountants Ryecroft Glenton and motor group Benfield are Platinum sponsors of the two-day event that is fast becoming an important fixture in the North’s equestrian and social calendar.

Benfield will have a variety of vehicles on display at Belsay, including 4X4s from Audi, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Jeep, Maserati and Alfa Romeo.

Laura de Wesselow, co-organiser of Belsay Horse Trials, said: “We are thrilled with the fantastic support that we have received this year. We have worked hard to listen to our sponsors and have put together some great-value-for-money packages for them.

“We have started a major marketing campaign for the event, which includes banners, posters and leaflets, as well as a lot of activity on social media.

“We have lots of new attractions planned for the horse trials, so it really will be a great day out for all the family to enjoy, as well as a fantastic equestrian spectacle.”

More than 500 riders are expected to take part in classes, ranging from BE90 to Open Intermediate.
