A young ski-slope star from Widdrington Village has achieved silverware success this summer.
Amy Stokoe came first in the Under 10 female category at Rossendale in Lancashire in its Summer Ski League.
Points are earned in races between May and September.
The nine-year-old skis at Silksworth Ski Centre in Sunderland twice a week and is a member of Tigers Ski Development Club and Ravens Ski Racing Club.
In the Rossendale league – the races are on on artificial slopes and snow – she beat girls from her own club and the host club as well as competitors from Kendal, Sheffield and Oldham.
During the school holidays, Amy had some ski-race training on snow in Landgraaf in the Netherlands.
It was a fantastic opportunity for her to train on snow and experience giant slalom as well as slalom training.
