Morpeth recently hosted a qualifying round of England Golf’s Junior Golf Tour.
The tour is for budding young players with ages ranging from seven to 13.
The players are arranged into various age groups and handicap classifications.
The attendance on the day at Morpeth Golf Club was extremely good with 58 competing over a pre-determined nine holes.
The host club had eight members competing and all in all they did well.
A special mention went to Grace Dunn, who came first in her category, and Holly Peck, second in the same group, while May Shaw finished second in her category.
In addition, congratulations also went to Morpeth’s other competitors – Keira Peck, Amelia Strong, Charlie Thompson, Cameron Twyneholm and Harry Tong for some good displays.
Speaking after the event, England Golf Regional Manager Jason Budd said: “A huge thank you to Morpeth Golf Club’s team of volunteers, staff and competitors for putting on a fantastic event for the Junior Golf Tour.
“I’ve been running this event now for seven years and can quite honestly say that it’s been the best by a country mile.
“The attention to detail, the volunteers, staff, enthusiasm and not to mention the course, were all first class, and I can’t thank you enough for helping to create an incredible experience.
“I’ve been inundated from parents saying how impressed they were with everyone who turned up to support the event and they can’t wait to come back again.”
