Warenford (109 all out) v Mitford (110-4) Alnwick and District Cricket League
MITFORD are on track to retain their title after an impressive six-wicket victory.
The visitors won the toss and decided to field.
They made an excellent start when Brian Thompson was bowled by Kieran Little and Daniel Patterson was run out, both for ducks.
Little took another two wickets to put Warenford under pressure, although they got back into the match thanks to a useful partnership between Kevin Thompson and Rogerson.
They took the score past 50, but Mitford stayed patient and made a breakthrough when Rogerson was caught by Richard Brown off the bowling of David Wigham for 16.
A Kieran Mole delivery to Sinton was skewed into the safe hands of Terry Dunn and Little picked up his fourth wicket. Wigham had key man Kevin Thompson, who scored 55, caught by Mole.
Jay Virpura got in on the act by bowling Ian Patterson for 11 and Wigham took the final wicket of the innings, with Warenford finishing 109 all out.
In reply, the away side suffered an early blow when Colin Crowe was dismissed after scoring only one run.
But Bhavesh Patel and Dunn put Mitford in command by seeing off the opening bowlers and getting into their stride to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Dunn was stumped for 30 before Patel reached a deserved half century. He was eventually caught out for 56 off the bowling of Potts.
Although Jonny Lees fell cheaply, Virpura (16 not out) and Wigham (four not out) saw Mitford home to a comfortable win.
The result means they are five points clear of Wooler with three games left to play.
