A total of six swimmers from Morpeth Amateur Swimming Club competed in the second weekend of the annual County Championships and their training paid off with all of them achieving personal best times.
Hannah Seymour was delighted to win her second bronze medal of the championships in the 200m backstroke event (14 years).
Erin Atchison, competing in her first county championship, achieved a PB of 41.32 seconds in the 50m breaststroke (14 years), Kate Seymour also competed.
In the 15 years age group, 50m breaststroke, Jessica Watson qualified into the final and with a fantastic PB of 37.76s to finish in overall eighth position.
Hannah Seymour qualified into the final of the 100m butterfly with a PB of 1m13.68s and also finished in eighth position.
Ben Walker competed in two butterfly events (10-11 age group). He swam well in the 50m and was disappointed not to achieve a PB, however, on the second day of competition he swam a PB of 1m33.47s in the 100m and qualified into the final and finished in eighth position.
Lauren Howe competed in the 100m freestyle (15 year age group), and despite little training in recent weeks, qualified into the final and was extremely satisfied to finish in fourth place with a PB of 1m2.07s.
Hannah also swam in the 200m individual medley and the 50m fly where she qualified for the final and swam a PB of 31.82s to finish in overall fifth place. Jessica and Kate also swam in this event and both achieved PB times (33.57s and 34.50s).
Lauren and Hannah have qualified for a number of North East Regional Championship events and will be representing Morpeth at the finals in Sunderland and Sheffield later in the year.
