TIME is running out for customers at Sainsbury’s Ponteland store to nominate teams or individuals to take part in the London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay.
Customers can put forward people or a group who they feel has inspired them by picking up a leaflet in-store (which is freepost), calling the helpline on 01299 382074 or visiting www.sainsburys.co.uk/paralym pictorchrelay
A total of 100 places are available through the national campaign. Nominations close on Tuesday.
Sainsbury’s Ponteland Store Manager Vicki Mains said: “This is a great opportunity for our customers to get involved in the build up to the Paralympic Games, which will involve athletes from the North East.
“To have the opportunity of carrying the Paralympic Flame and help launch this year’s games really would be a great honour for someone from Ponteland.”
The relay will take place on August 28 and 29. It will start at Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, the spiritual home of the Paralympic movement, and finish at the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.
