Club athletes and people who go running to improve their fitness can both take part in an innovative event at a Northumberland estate on Saturday.
The next No Ego Head Torch Race will take place over a five-mile course on gravel woodland tracks and footpath trails within the National Trust parkland around Wallington.
It is not an obstacle race, unlike some of the events in other parts of the country, but those taking part will need to duck to miss branches, avoid tree roots and run down steep descents.
Guided only by your head torch and the organiser’s reflective signage, this is a fell race with a difference.
It is not designed to get you crawling through mud, or jumping into rivers. The aim is to entice people of all fitness levels to leave the comfort of their treadmills and see what the beautiful scenery of Northumberland has to offer.
T-shirts will be given to the first five men and first five women.
