HOT-SHOT Cain Stewart has continued his rifle competition success.

The 10-year-old from Scots Gap took part in the national finals of the Airgun Training and Education Organisation (ATEO) Junior Rifle shooting contest at the Midland Game Fair at Weston Park in Shropshire, after winning two gold medals in the regional finals.

Like last year, he came away with a silver medal and a trophy following an excellent performance. The winner was 14 years old.

Before this event, Cain competed in his first clay competition at the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace, Perth. The junior competition (under 18) was held on the same difficult adult course and he shot extremely well.

At one stage he was lying third, which was remarkable as most of the other competitors were 16 and 17-year-olds with much more experience.

He was also recently invited to shoot in a four-man adult team against nine other teams in a charity shoot at Longwitton Dene, the home of Northumberland Sporting Clays.

The Chantry Middle School and Technology College student more than held his own against some very fine shooters.
