Ulgham (158 all out) v Whitley Bay (161 for 6)
ULGHAM slipped to a second home defeat of the season last Saturday at the hands of title favourites Whitley Bay.
Despite winning the toss and electing to bat on a glorious afternoon, they posted a score very much under par.
Losing both openers Tait for four, and Plummer for six, with the score on 21, the home side were indebted to innings from Haygarth (47), Scholes (27) and a dogged 23 from Hall to reach a score to give the bowlers something to bowl at.
The visitors got off to a flying start with both openers punishing any loose bowling.
The introduction of the veteran Charlton paid dividends.
In his spell of nine overs he removed three of the Whitley Bay line-up to give Ulgham a sniff of victory.
But the visitors held out and reached their target in the 36th over.
Campbell 0 for 35, Moore 2 for 61, Charlton 3 for 23, Herne 0 for 14, and Todhunter 1 for 14, were the Ulgham bowlers.
