Teen biker Xavier given big chance

THE Morpeth-based SGR Racing team has snapped up a new rider.

American Xavier Zayat is to contest the 2012 British 125GP Championship after making a big impression in his native country.

The 13-year-old from New York won the USGPRU Moriwaki MD250H Championship last season and is looking to make the step up to one of the world’s premiere classes.

Zayat has also competed on a 125GP motorcycle previously, where he achieved several podium finishes.

He is looking forward to the challenges he knows are ahead of him, especially travelling to a new country, but feels he is ready to move up a level.

Steve Kinghorn, Team Manager of SGR Racing, said: “We’re excited at the prospect of bringing Xavier to the British Championship and being able to assist in the career progression of young talent, which has always been the goal for the team.

“We’re delighted that Imperium Law Solicitors are supporting us for another season, but this is a huge venture both for SGR Racing and Xavier and travel costs alone will run into thousands of pounds.

“If anyone feels able to help the dreams of Xavier and SGR to become a reality, please contact us via our website – www.sgrracing.co.uk”
