Ponteland High School had two teams representing Northumberland in the regional schools finals at Sports Central, Newcastle, this year.
The U19 side, who were regional champions as U16s, knew they were in for an even bigger challenge this year as they had just the bare minimum of players on the day.
Nevertheless, they all performed magnificently on the day with wins against Queen Elizabeth High, Teesside High, Durham High, Royal Grammar and Carmel School.
They finished the day as runners-up to Newcastle High and have earned themselves a trip to the national finals for the second year running.
U19 team: Rachel Cripwell, Sophie Reay, Alex Reeman, Julia Elder, Grace Lambert, Charlotte Fraser, Sophie Wainwright.
The U14s showed fantastic team spirit in their competition and they came fifth overall.
This was a particularly good result considering one of their key players, Lucy Walby, had to cheer them on from the sidelines due to injury.
Many of the players stayed on to watch the Team Northumbria game later that evening and they then had even more netball commitments the following day.
U14 team: Mia Andreyeva, Lucy Dodd, Elsa Atkinson, Cathryn Walby, Fran Burrin, Lucy Fraser, Ashleigh Clayton, Yasmeen Amer.
The school would like to thank the players’ parents for their support, which included transport provision and help with scoring.
