Thirds hit for six by Tynedale

Morpeth III 1 Tynedale I 6

North East Hockey League, CDL North

MORPETH started much faster than they had done in previous matches and as a result the first 10 minutes were end-to-end.

However, a quick run from the Tynedale centre-forward meant that not even the experienced Finch between the sticks could stop the goal.

The home side regrouped and some quick runs by Joe Race linking up with Harry Goodwin meant that it looked like they would equalise, but they were again hit on the counter and going into half-time they were 0-2 down.

The visitors pressed forward in the second half and despite some decent defending, they scored a further two goals.

Morpeth then got the goal they deserved when a quick break gave them a numerical advantage in attack. Tony Cook drew the keeper before passing the ball to Goodwin, who powered it into the corner of the goal past the Tynedale player on the line.

Gareth Anderson was a rock in his defensive midfield role but some sloppy play allowed Tynedale to score two more goals and as a result the game ended 1-6.
