CHILDREN across Northumberland are being urged to try out athletics with trained coaches at a free session on Tuesday.
Throughout the summer, Aviva and UK Athletics want to get more young people aged between eight and 15 involved in the sport by giving them the opportunity to sample different events.
The Aviva Startrack sessions are an addition to the seven grassroots programmes supported through the Aviva Athletics Academy and they were where World Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis began her athletics journey.
“The first steps to me winning my World Championship gold medal were taken when I began my career at an Aviva Startrack camp in Sheffield,” she said.
“It’s great to see Aviva continue to provide support to the next generation of talent.”
The sessions available to Northumberland children will take place at Cramlington Sporting Club from 9am to noon and then 1pm to 4pm.
