A MORPETH Harrier has continued her world success in two demanding disciplines.
Emma Holt was among those taking part in the World Age Group Aquathlon and Triathlon Championships at Hyde Park in London.
The aquathlon race involved a 1km swim in the Serpentine followed by a 5km run and a top performance saw Emma finish as second overall lady, only seven seconds behind the winner, and claim a gold medal for being the first in her age group (W25-29) in a time of 32mins 20secs.
Fellow Harriers Lindsay Turnbull and Lorna MacDonald also took part and they both did very well.
Lindsay was 11th in her age group (W40-44) in 37mins 45secs and Lorna finished 12th in the women’s 20-24 race with a time of 39mins 13secs.
Two days later, Emma competed in the sprint triathlon race (750m swim, 22.5km bike ride and 5km run) and another outstanding result saw her finish as second overall lady.
Once again, she finished first in her age group and claimed gold in a time of one hour, 10mins and 4secs. She was delighted to add to her medal haul from previous championships.
On the final day, Lindsay and another Morpeth Harrier, Les Cavill, competed in the Olympic distance triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run). Surprisingly, the swim was reduced to 750m due to chilly conditions.
Lindsay finished in two hours, 10mins and 49secs, 25th in her age group (W40-44) and Les was 36th in the men’s 55-59 race in a time of two hours, 11mins and 57secs.
