TEEN American Xavier Zayat returned to action with Morpeth-based SGR Racing in the fourth round of the British Monster Energy Motostar Championship at Snetterton circuit over the last weekend of May.

He was forced to sit out the previous race at Oulton Park due to injuring his foot during an unfortunate crash in morning warm-up. Just three weeks after breaking three metatarsals in his left foot he returned ready for action, albeit remaining a little sore.

Xavier used the Friday practice day to learn the circuit in preparation for qualifying on the Saturday, where he managed to get a race starting position within the top 20.

He pushed hard during the race, gaining his fastest lap of the weekend and was third fastest through the speed trap on the start/finish straight.

Xavier made good use of this speed and managed to out-drag the bike in front of him to the line gaining 14th place overall and 10th in the Cup, giving him valuable points within the championship.

Both rider and team will take part in the next round at Knockhill in Scotland over the weekend of June 22 to 24, where they will hope to build on the solid results so far this season.

SGR, named after the initials of husband and wife co-directors Steve and Ruth and daughter Georgina, has been running in the event for two years.
