Morpeth 1sts win by 100 runs away to Percy Main

Morpeth 1sts secured a 100 run away victory over Percy Main when the teams met in Division 1 of the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League on Saturday.

Morpeth batted first and with Matty Senior on 77 not out and David Rutherford hitting 59, they managed to put on 233-4 in their 50 overs.

Michael Phillips hit 48 for Percy Main who were all out for 133 with four wickets each for James Craigs and Jack Concannon.

In Division 2, Ponteland 1sts won by 47 runs at home to Backworth 1sts.

Ban O’Brien top scored with 65 and there were knocks of 49 from Neil Stanley and 46 from Intisaar Fazal as Pont put on 237-6, Mark Minto taking three wickets.

Paul Robson hit 50 for Backworth, but they were restricted to 190-9 with O’Brien taking 4-31.

In Division 3, Blagdon Park 1sts won by six wickets in their home game against Ashington Rugby 1sts.

The rugger boys batted first and made 134-9 with Lewis Tarney on 32 not out. Harry Johnson took 3-35 for Blagdon, who in reply chased it down at 137-4 in 39 overs with Tom Lakey on 47.

In Division 4, Stobswood 1sts won by 88 runs at home to Percy Main 2nds. Stobswood posted 150-9 with Percy 62 all out in reply.

Ponteland 2nds won by five wickets away to Backworth 2nds.

Backworth made 160 all out, Andy Denyer claiming four wickets. Pont were 161-5 in 42 overs with Tom Morgan on 44.

In Division 5, Blagdon 2nds won by four wickets away to Bedlington 2nds.

Bedlington were 128-7 at the end of 40 overs, with Blagdon 131-6 in 35 overs, John Whittaker making 43.

Morpeth 2nds beat Ulgham 1sts by two wickets.

Adam Tait hit 55 as Ulgham opened up with 150-8, Ryan Hope taking three wickets. Morpeth were 151-8 in reply with opener Hope hitting 50.

In Division 6, Kirkley lost by eight wickets at home to Corbridge 2nds.

Chris Lumb was 30 not out as Kirkley put on 88-6 in 20 overs. Neil Tiffin was 43 not out as Corbridge replied with 89-2 in 13 overs.

Ulgham 2nds (81) lost by nine wickets at home to Rock (82-1).
