Morpeth Rugby Club held its annual players dinner and presentations at Mitford Road on Wednesday evening.
The event was well supported by players, members and visitors with Justin Lockwood, the Kingston Park- based Radio sports presenter, the MC for the evening.
Club president Peter Forsythe greeted the visitors and guests and welcomed the President of the Northumberland Rugby Union, Ken Fraser, a member and Past President of MRFC.
Guest speaker was Scott MacLeod Newcastle Falcons player and coach. He was capped 24 times for Scotland and in his early days played for the Borders team at Hawick.
As well as having a very frank Question Time with the guests Scott gave an interesting overview of his career starting with his early life in Scotland and his early ambition to be a basketball player. He also recalled many incidents in his professional career playing for Scotland .
Following his presentation he presented the Player awards as follows:
Ralph Appleby Salver - Jonny Waters;
Colts Player of the Year - Alex Ball;
Stags Player of the Year - Mark Davidson;
Edwardians Player of the Year - Richard Robinson;
Reivers Payer of the Year - Andy Gayner;
Young Player of the Year - Matt Denton;
1st Team Player of the Year - Carl Hill ;
Club top try scorer - Carl Hill.
The George Brown Trophy for Contribution to the Club both on and off the field was awarded to Dave Chattaway.
There was also the awarding of Club ties to 21 players.
