THE Young Games Makers who represented Morpeth at this summer’s incredibly successful Olympic Games showed their appreciation to their team leaders Lynda Garland and Jenny Glossop for making it both possible and for making it such a memorable experience.

Lynda, the Chairman of Morpeth Swimming Club, and Jenny, the club coach, were each presented with a framed collection of limited edition Royal Mail Gold Medal Winner Stamps.

These framed presentations were specially produced to mark the spectacular sporting success of the British Olympians in London 2012.

The nine Young Games Makers (YGMs) thanked Lynda and Jenny for their considerable effort and enthusiasm in organising the transport to London and accommodation on the numerous training events and the 10 days they spent in London undertaking their duties as volunteers at the Aquatics Centre where the swimming events took place.

Lynda and Jenny accompanied the YGMs on all these occasions and with their support and direction they raised almost £10,000 to cover all the costs incurred. The entire team also took the opportunity to thank the organisations and individuals who generously donated towards their fund-raising.

They all agreed it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one they will treasure forever.
