This year the event raised £4,800, split equally between The Sick Children's Trust, Scott House based at the Freeman Hospital and 4Q Cancer.

It takes the total raised from the annual badmintonathon to £24,000.

One of the organisers said: “We had over 80 people taking part, from the youngest of eight to the oldest of nearly 80. We continuously kept the shuttle in play and over 25 of us were there the full 24 hours. Active Northumberland donated the court time for free, shuttles were donated by Yehlex UK.”
