Fred Williams (12) from Alnwick has been selected to join the climbing GB National Development Squad for the second year running.

In November he competed in Sheffield at a gruelling two day event designed to select the best young climbers in the country. Fred proved he was consistent across all three climbing disciplines achieving second place in lead (roped) climbing, fourth in bouldering and fourth in speed which gave him a combined result of second.

The British Mountaineering Council have confirmed this is good enough to gain him a place on the 2020 GB National Development Squad.

Fred says, “I’m really pleased to be on the GB Squad again for 2020. I can’t wait for the competition season to start.”
