Redcar 18 Ponteland 33 Durham & Northumberland League, Division One
PONTELAND gained a welcome five points to pull further clear of the relegation zone.
The visitors started at pace and the forwards were driving the Redcar scrum backwards.
The backs were running good lines and from one such occasion White crashed over.
Mullins converted to make it 7-0 to Pont.
They soon doubled their lead when excellent offloads by Moller and Harrison saw Laverick score on 10 minutes and once again the score was converted by Mullins.
Redcar then had a spell of pressure and a penalty at the breakdown made it 14-3.
But after 35 minutes, Ponteland took another strike against the head and Moller picked up and romped home from 25 metres.
Another excellent conversion from Mullins made it 21-3 at half-time.
Ten minutes into the second half, the away side achieved their bonus point as a line-out catch-and-drive smashed Redcar over the line and Scott claimed the try.
Their final try, which Mullins converted, came when Walters burst through and excellent support by skipper Harrison fed Moller to score again.
The home side tried to play adventurous rugby throughout the match and they were rewarded in the second half with three tries to make the final score 33-18.
