The home side ran out comfortable winners against the Mitford Road outfit who worked hard to come away with a losing bonus point that may prove to be vital in their quest to remain in North Premier.

After a difficult journey Morpeth faced a strong wind in the first half, with conditions being a feature throughout. Ultimately the first 15 minutes or so separated the sides with the home side completely dominant. It was a deficit that Morpeth could never recover from.

The situation was made worse with the loss of strong running centre Bentley Brown.

Albeit they had faced the strong wind in the first 40 minutes a scoreline of 31-12 in Blackburn's favour put the match beyond Morpeth.

With the help of the elements in the second half the scoring was almost level. Morpeth showing some spirit in securing a late 4 try bonus point .

Scorers on the day, Ollie Dynan,Sam Hornby,Cole Wilson, Jake Jardine and Jake McKay who also kicked 4 conversions.

Man of the match Cole Wilson.

This Saturday it is local derby day and Morpeth will need no reminding who the opposition are as Alnwick come calling on league duty. On Saturday Alnwick beat Blaydon 7-0.

The game at Mitford Road kicks off at 2.30pm.
